State Senator Says Prisons Should Not Be Understaffed
Rawlins, WY – State Senator Bill Vasey, who once sat on the parole board at the state penitentiary in Rawlins says he'd like to see the Department of Corrections do more to fix the state's prison staffing shortage. Vasey, who's a Democrat, says he worked in the construction and mining industry during boom times when it seemed like there were never enough workers to fill the jobs. But he says that didn't stop him from getting the work done. The department of corrections recently raised salaries and recruiting efforts continue nationwide.
