State senator snared in lawsuit
By Peter O'Dowd
Laramie, Wyo. – Republican State Senator Kit Jennings of Casper is tangled in a half-million dollar lawsuit.
A complaint was filed in Natrona County District Court claiming that Jennings' company failed to pay for services worth more than 500-thousand dollars.
Jennings owns Roughrider Power, a company that rents generators for use in oilfields. In 2004, court documents show Roughrider bought about 30 generators from another company called Wyoming Machinery. Wyoming Machinery claims that Jennings never paid the bill when it came due in June of this year, and is suing for 525-thousand dollars.
Jennings is countersuing. In court documents filed last month, Jennings says the generators didn't work. Jennings claimed the equipment had to be repaired at his expense. Attorneys for Wyoming Machinery said they would not comment on the case. Jennings also declined to speak on tape. But he did say that this case was nothing more than a disagreement between a small businessman and his vendor.
Jennings was elected to the state Senate in 2005. He's up for re-election in November.
