Laramie, WY – A spring storm that dropped nearly 3 feet of snow in the mountains of central Wyoming has closed some highways and schools around the state.
Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories remained in
effect Wednesday for a large portion of the state, including
Cheyenne, Casper, Riverton, Lander, Laramie and Gillette.
A 50-mile section of Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Laramie
in southeast Wyoming was closed early Wednesday but had reopened by
midmorning. The National Weather Service reports that Cheyenne
received about 9 inches of snow, closing some rural schools and
snapping tree limbs.
Chuck Baker of the weather service in Riverton says the highest
reported snowfall for his area was 34 inches at Hobbs Park, about
15 miles south of Lander.
