Laramie, Wy – The weather in southern Wyoming has been so snowy and cold this fall, antelope are leaving their home on the range and moving into populated places.
All those trees and bushes in town offer easy eating compared to
pawing through crusty snow for forage out on the blustery plains.
Antelope have been causing traffic problems in the middle of
Cheyenne this week. In one subdivision in Laramie, more than 100
antelope have been chewing on trees and tall grass.
Police have few options for moving the antelope. They say trying
to herd them out of town or shoot them with tranquilizers risks
doing more harm than good.
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is urging drivers to keep
their eyes open for wildlife and not drive too fast.
