Stranded Students Safe
Buffalo, Wy – Stranded high school students whose school
bus was involved in an accident yesterday (Wednesday) on I-90 are
being housed at a Buffalo elementary school.
A winter storm has shut down the portion of the interstate
between Gillette and the Montana state line.
The students are from far Tongue River High School in Dayton in
north-central Wyoming. They were traveling to a Family, Career and
Community Leaders of America competition in Cheyenne when their bus
was involved in one of two chain crashes on the slick interstate.
None of the students was injured.
Meadowlark Elementary School Principal Bob Tyser says the
students have "food, warmth and everything they need."
Tyser says classes at his elementary school were canceled, but
the facility is being kept open for the stranded students.
The principal says the students are "watching TV's, playing a
little basketball, doing the things that kids do."
