Sugar beet harvest ramps up in east Wyoming
Torrington, Wyo. – Cooler weather and dry conditions have boosted the sugar beet harvest in eastern Wyoming.
Jerry Darnell of the Western Sugar Cooperative says beets piling up are running a sugar content rate of about 17.51 percent.
The Torrington Telegram reports that is considerably higher than original estimates. The harvest has yielded between 21 and 22 tons-per-acre.
