Supreme Court Upholds Decision in Runners' Lawsuit

Cheyenne, WY – The Wyoming Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that a judge was correct to dismiss a wrongful-death lawsuit involving the 2001 accident that killed eight University of Wyoming athletes. The family of Joshua Jones filed the suit against the estate of fellow cross-country runner Nicholas Schabron. The compliant alleged that Schabron, who was driving, could have taken evasive action to avoid the collision with Clint Haskins. In a unanimous ruling, the state Supreme Court agreed with District Judge Jeffrey Donnell, who concluded the plaintiffs presented no factual basis for their claims.
