Laramie, WY – Teton County cracked down on abuses of the so-called "family exemption" rule Tuesday. That's the state law that says divisions of land among family members are exempt from most subdivision regulations. But Teton County Commissioners say some of the 200 new lots created under the rule have been sold after only a short time in family ownership. So they passed emergency regulations Tuesday that will require the county to take a closer look at family exemption applications. Commission chairman Andy Schwartz says too many subdivisions have sidestepped important rules. The exempt subdivisions are also free from the county's affordable housing rules.
