Third Parties Submit Signatures Monday

Cheyenne, WY – Any independent candidates hoping to get on Wyoming's ballot had to submit signatures to the Secretary of State Monday. Candidates running statewide must have over 3,500 certified signatures. For the Presidential election, Ralph Nader supporters handed in everything they've gathered and the Constitution Party also sibmitted signatures for Presidential candidate Michael Peroutka. Wyoming's Constitution Party representative Harry Meekins says he's elated they have a chance to get on the ballot. Meekins believes it's important to have another choice for voters who which to vote their conscience. Several representatives of independent and third party candidates say it's too difficult to get a candidate on the ballot in Wyoming. The Secretary of State's office plan to have third party candidate signatures verified by early September.
