Laramie, Wy – Wyoming U-S Senator Craig Thomas has rolled out an energy package that bills he says address energy prices and availability. The bill proposes ways to streamline the permitting process for fuel refineries . Includes incentives for extracting more oil from older wells using carbon dioxide and provides a new way to finance the construction of power plants and oil pipelines. But more than half of the bill's fifty three pages deals with opening up the artic national wildlife refuge for oil and gas exploration and production.
Moves to open up ANWAR have been defeated in Congress previously. But Thomas says he believes the current high price of gas could persuade lawmakers and their constituents to consider ANWAR again. His energy bill is now in committee for consideration.
