Three Men Sentenced in Child Sex Trafficking Case
Jackson, Wy – Three men who forced a 13-year-old girl to
work as a prostitute in the Jackson area have been sentenced to prison. Jose L. Chavez, age 42; Jacobo D. Vazquez, age 33; and Braulio A. Valez, age 21, each pleaded guilty in January to sex trafficking
a child and aiding and abetting the sex trafficking of a child. U-S District Judge Clarence Brimmer in Cheyenne sentenced Chavez to 97 months in prison yesterday (Friday). The judge also ordered
Chavez to serve five years of supervised probation after the prison sentence, but a prosecutor said Chavez will likely be deported to Mexico after he serves his sentence. Brimmer sentenced Vazquez to 30 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised probation. The prosecutor said Vazquez also will likely be deported following his sentence. Valez was sentenced to 16 months in prison. A fourth man charged in the case is still at large. Court documents state that the men transported the 13-year-old girl from Mexico through Arizona and then forced her to have sex for money.
