Track and Field Team Competes at Conference Championships

Laramie, Wy – In college sports, the U-W track team is finishing up its season. The athletes are competing at the Mountain West Conference Championships through Saturday. Two Cowgirls are ranked number one in their events. Shauna Smith a senior from Sheridan has the fourth fastest time in the world in the 400 meter hurdles and Jessica Fox a senior from Burns is leading the conference in the 200 and 400 meter sprints. Coach Don Yentes says it will be tough to say goodbye to them because they'll be very hard to replace as they've been ranked in the top 30 in the world at times.
The two women are also part of the four by four hundred relay. Yentes expects them to win. Several athletes from U-W will go on to compete in the regional meet and possibly the national championships.
