The head of Wyoming's trucking association opposes efforts to set up a toll road or a user fee to pay for upkeep of interstate 80. A legislative committee remains interested in the idea of a toll road and is considering a bill for 2010. But Shelia Foertsch of the trucking association says trucks will be asked to pay too much of the bill. "We always hear about about the extra wear that a truck causes on a highway, but they are also paying more in registration fees and gas taxes then a passenger vehicle."
Foertsch understands that there will be less federal dollars available for highway construction, but she says a gas tax increase is a fairer way to go.
