UW Cowboys head to CU
By Bob Beck
Laramie, WY – The University of Wyoming Cowboys travel to Boulder to face the University of Colorado for the first time in over a decade. It will be the Cowboys first road game of the season, but a fun one for many of the Wyoming players. Head Coach Dave Christensen says that is because Colorado chose not to sign many players who currently play for the Cowboys, "We got a lot of Colorado kids on this team and I don't think any of them came here over an offer from CU. You know any kid that was not offered a scholarship in his own state probably has some excitement to come back and compete against them."
Christensen says the game is also important for bragging rights and recruiting. The Cowboys look to bounce back from last weekend's loss to Texas. The Colorado team is winless so far this season.
Colorado has especially struggled on defense. Wyoming Coach Dave Christensen says it is difficult to point to one particular problem with them, "You know they are a young defense, a young team overall. They've had some issues, they've given up over 500 yards a game over the first two games. So, I don't know if it is one area, they have just made mistakes."
Meanwhile, Christensen wants his team's offense to do better on third downs. He says that has been a focus in practice this week. Kickoff is at 1:30 in Boulder.
