U.W. Fraternity's Status Temporarily Revoked After Drinking Incident
By Peter O'Dowd
Laramie, WY – Members of the Sigma Nu fraternity at the University of Wyoming are under investigation for drinking dangerous amounts of alcohol on campus. U.W. has temporarily suspended all Sigma Nu activities and revoked its status as a campus organization until a hearing is conducted. Sarah Axelson is the vice president for student affairs.
We have notified the parents of all the members of the fraternity because we want to make sure they are all aware this incident has occurred and we revoked their ability to operate, she said.
Axelson says members of a different Greek community came forward to report the drinking, which allegedly took place at a fraternity event. She says no one was injured, but the group could face punishment including sanctions from the fraternity's national headquarters.
