UW Identifies Provost Finalists

University of Wyoming

The University of Wyoming has identified the three finalists for the position of provost of academic affairs. All three finalists for the position will give public presentations on UW’s campus beginning Friday.

University of Wyoming professor, Tucker Readdy, is the chair-elect of the faculty senate. He says he is interested to hear their plans.

“I think the person needs to be a visionary, in terms of being able to see across campus and really providing some strategic initiatives for how we are going to continue to move the academic mission of the university forward.”

The candidates are Kate Miller, the dean of Geosciences at Texas A&M, Terence Parker who is a professor and was the former provost and executive president at the Colorado School of Mines, and Jeffrey Thompson who is the dean of the College of Science at the University of Nevada-Reno.

The public will be able to submit input on each of the candidates online. The final selection will be made by President Laurie Nichols. Current Vice President of Academic Affairs, David Jones, will return to his faculty position in the College of Health Sciences. The selected finalist will begin in August.
