Vacation Violence Grows In Jackson Hole
Jackson, Wy – Teton County Law Enforcement officials have noticed a growing trend and some are calling it vacation violence. During high peak tourist times the numbers of domestic violence and sexual assault cases increases dramatically. It is a trend that the Community Action Network of Jackson Hole has watched for some time. The Networks Education and Outreach Coordinator Elizabeth Scherodis says it is surprising to some that such a beautiful area like Jackson Hole can be the source of violence. Scherodis and Jackson Hole law enforcement officials say a vacation can make it easier for someone to commit violence since they can isolate their victim. Officials say they are starting to have success getting the hospitality industry and others in the community to combat the problem.
