Laramie, Wy –
Governor Dave Freudenthal is proposing a budget that gives local governments 30 million to make communities business ready and another 30 million to deal with streets, buildings, and other projects. Wyoming Association of Municipalities Director George Parks says it would be a tremendous help in funding one time projects. But Parks is not only hoping that legislators approve the Governors proposal, but also raise the funding cap that provides annual funding to local government. He says many communities are facing deficits and a larger cap could solve that. Parks says a lot of legislators are discussing the issue with him, but he admits he has been at this too long to be optimistic.
