War on Plastic Bags Waged in Jackson Hole

Laramie, WY – A Jackson Hole man is waging a war on plastic shopping bags, and he's doing it by handing out cotton tote bags. Jim LaRue raised money from local businesses and residents to buy 1,000 of the reusable bags. He plans to give them away at a supermarket called the "Jackson Whole Grocer" on Saturday.

"It's a small thing. We may reduce the number of plastic bags you see floating around, stuck on fences in the valley here," LaRue said.

One benefit to the tote bags is, they don't rip as easily as the plastic ones do. In Laramie, the University of Wyoming recycling center announced this week that it will now accept plastic shopping bags.
