LARAMIE, wyo – David Wendt the Democratic candidate running for US House says if elected his priority would be to get an energy policy in place. He says he sympathizes with industry leaders and environmental groups who decry the lack of a national policy.
"We simply don't have an energy policy framework that sets forth our goals and how we want to do them," says Wendt. "So, we're simply scrambling in terms of critical issues of environmental protection, of energy security, reducing our dependence on Middle East oil and oil in general."
Wendt says energy policy should not be based on regulation but on market solutions. He says this would push industry to step up and build clean energy technologies. Wendt has recently spent time working with Wyoming and China on policy related to coal.
