Laramie, Wy – Much of the west is under a fire advisory because of dry and windy conditions. In Colorado the governor is asking the federal government to declare 25 counties disaster areas because of drought and the possibility of wildfires.
Wyoming's Governor, Dave Freudenthal, says it is possible he also will ask for disaster declarations for some parts of the state. He says those parts of the state are not discussing coming out of the drought but rather facing the worst year of drought yet and while in the past the state has been lucky when it comes to fires things don't look good for this summer.
The governor says in particular he is monitoring conditions in the eastern half of the state and southwestern Wyoming.
