Rock Springs, Wyoming – Western Wyoming Community College has entered into an agreement to try and help address workforce needs in the Oil and Gas Industry. The College is launching two new credit programs to try and get more people into the technology side of Oil and Gas Development. The hands-on program is viewed as critical for the industry to fill many voids in the workforce. The Head of B-P's Wamsutter operation, Jerry Austin says the need for trained workers is great and he thinks this program will go a long ways towards solving the problems.For that reason Industry Representatives, the state of Wyoming, and the College all partnered to develop the degree programs. Assistant Professor of Industrial Maintenance Glen Dalton says the programs will allow the College to meet the needs of the industry, while providing students with some high paying jobs.
