Newcastle, WY – The Rocky Mountain Area Incident Management team lifted evacuation orders for residential areas near the Whoopup wildfire.
Last night the fire near Newscastle grew to cover more than 7-thousand acres.
Cooler weather and increased of personnel have helped control the blaze.
Incident Team spokeswoman Beth Hermanson said more than 750 people are now working the scene and the fire is 40 percent contained.
"We felt that at this point the fire in that area is cool enough and safe enough to have the residents there and we shouldn't have to ask them to leave again."
Hermanson said there is no official projection for when the blaze will be put out completely, but that she's optimistic it could happen by the weekend.
