Wildlife Population Popular Topic for Brucellosis Task Force

Lander, Wy – As the Governor's brucellosis task force is looking at wildlife issues, the potential of population change among elk and bison has frequently come up. At the group's meeting in Lander Friday, there were presentations on how the Wyoming Game and Fish and the National Elk Refuge go about setting population goals. University of Wyoming Agriculture Dean Frank Galey is the Brucellosis task force chairman. Galey says it was important for the task force to know about population because it plays a large role in brucellosis transmission.
Friday, the task force started discussing ways to address brucellosis in wildlife. The group continues those discussions and may start drafting recommendations on the subject, in two weeks in Jackson.
