Cheyenne, Wyo. – Wind gusts over 65 mph have driven tractor trailers off highways and toppled trees across Wyoming.
State highway authorities said Monday that strong winds forced "numerous" truck drivers to pull over and park alongside Interstate 25. Two trailers tipped over, but neither driver was seriously hurt. One of the toppled trailers briefly closed parts of southbound Interstate 25; the other came to rest in a median.
The wind also knocked down trees, including a fir tree at the headquarters of the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
Wind in Colorado has been blamed for bringing down power lines and starting fires, including one in southwest Colorado that has scorched 3,200 acres.
