Worth of Wyoming Homes Rising

Laramie, Wy – The nation's mortgage and home loan company watchdog has issued a report showing Wyoming leading the nation in the rate of home price appreciation. The Office of Federal housing enterprise oversight says that Wyoming ranks second in the nation when it comes to the rise in housing prices. They gained nearly 15 percent in value over the past year and more than 60 percent over the past 5 years. Wyoming association of realtors president John Gibbs says low supply and high demand are driving that home appreciation.
Gibbs says that as more housing comes on line along with more volatility in the financial market could level home prices a bit in the state. But he says the next five years should bring a steadily rising rate of appreciation.
