Cheyenne, Wy – The Meteorologist in charge for the National Weather Service office in Cheyenne says it's been over 25 years since Wyoming had a tornado that killed anyone. Bill Parker says most Wyoming Tornados that touch down occur in remote areas. But Friday's tornado in Wright was obviously different. Parker says what was more surprising is that it occurred in August... a time of year when Tornados generally don't occur.
He says the last time anyone died in a Wyoming Tornado was in 1979. Parker says the fact that only two people died despite some heavy damage, is probably both a credit to the Community and early warnings.
