WY and MT Fire Season Mild

Cheyenne, WY – The wildfire seasons in Wyoming and Montana this past summer weren't very wild.

Fire officials in both states report that the number of fire starts was about normal, but the fires were generally smaller than in recent years and were quickly put out.

Wyoming State Forester Bill Crapser says there was notably less dry lightning, or summer thunderstorms where no rain falls.

Crapser says this year's fire season has no bearing on what might happen next year.
