Laramie, WY – Wyoming political leaders are remembering former president Gerald Ford today. Among them is Cliff Hansen. He was Governor of Wyoming in the 60's and was a US senator when President Ford was in office. Hansen says that the President was good at keeping up old friendships. As a 22-year-old, Ford had spent a summer in Yellowstone Park in as an intern Ranger. Nearly 40 years later, President Ford visited Jackson with Hansen. Hansen says he was struck by Ford's loyalty to his old Yellowstone friends. When we flew into Yellowstone I know that he wanted to have lunch with old rangers that had been his buddies when he had been with the park service, he said. Hansen says he admired Ford for making the tough decision to pardon President Nixon after the Watergate scandal. Vice President Dick Cheney said in a statement that Ford restored public trust in the presidency and provided strength to the country.
