Wyo House budget would add $45 million
Cheyenne, Wyo. – The Wyoming House of Representatives added some $45 million to the state budget during its budget debate.
Under the House version, new money would go to local government and toward some economic development efforts, like data center recruitment. The House and the Senate also placed some $15 million into an account to deal with aging landfill sites.
House Appropriations Chairman Rosie Berger says this is a serious issue. "What I found in a lot of these communities is that they have nowhere to go. They cannot remodel, expand, or re-do, they are land locked," she said.
Berger says the legislature will continue to monitor the issue and study ways to find the best solution. She says that could include regional landfills. The House and Senate will try to iron out differences in their respective budgets next week.
