Wyoming could get energy efficiency money
By Renny MacKay
Laramie, WY – Wyoming may gain from stimulus funds for energy efficiency projects. The state has already applied for nearly 25 million dollars and might have access to another 12 million. Tom Fuller manages the state energy program is Tom Fuller. He says this money could provide opportunities around the state.
"We've got one program that we call the Wyoming Energy Conservation Improvement Program that we've had operational for a couple years and working with cities, towns, counties we can see what kinds of opportunities they have for energy savings. So, being able to expand that program and other programs to help them is exciting for us," Fuller says.
If the federal government signs off on Wyoming's application, the first dollars could arrive in the state this week.
Fuller says the stimulus funds could also expand a program that provides grants to state residents who buy solar panels.
