Laramie, Wy – Wyoming is one of 28 states that saw a decrease last year in drunk driving deaths. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says Wyoming decreased by five, from 67 down to 62 between 2002 and 2003. Nationally drunken driving deaths decreased by three percent. The Director of Injury Prevention Resources of Wyoming, Lori Pozarik believes that ad campaigns and awareness efforts have made an impact. But she also says the decrease in Wyoming is very small, which is why they need to continue awareness efforts.
Pozarik says the country made great strides when drunk driving was a focus in the 80's, but then when people got lax, the numbers of drunk drivers climbed.
