Laramie, WY – An expert on elder care says Wyoming is headed for a crisis unless healthcare for the elderly becomes more of a priority. Deb Fleming directs the University of Wyoming's Geriatric Education Center. She notes that Wyoming's older population continues to grow at a time when health care services are lacking. "We're not keeping pace in terms of services," Fleming said. "We're close to a tipping point now."
Fleming says elder care should become a priority in the state, but she admits finding a solution will be difficult since the country continues to produce fewer health care professionals who specialize in elder care.
