Cody, Wy –
Congress continues to try and reach an agreement on the farm bill. At stake are a number of programs to help farmers, as well as a variety of food subsidy programs. The Bush administration has targeted the program for cuts. In Wyoming, farmers say they are watching negotiations closely. One such observer is Cody Sugar Beet Farmer Glen Reed, who says early versions of the Farm Bill contained three critical elements for the sugar industry.
Reed says the key provisions are not handouts, but would open up markets for his industry. Reed says without the bill his business could be in jeopardy.
