Cheyenne, WY – Wyoming may join a multi-state lottery AND sell scratch tickets. A committee of the legislature passed a bill to do that today (Wednesday). Religious groups have opposed this and now the measure has a new opponent, the owner of Wyoming Downs, an Evanston horse track. The concern is that people will stop betting on races, instead playing scratch and win tickets.
Representative Pat Childers says he sympathizes with the problem. Childers says the people of Wyoming support a lottery and that is the reason they are bringing this bill. It now heads to the House floor for debate.
