Wyoming Planes Go To California
Cheyenne, Wyoming – Four C-130 cargo planes
from Colorado and Wyoming Air Force units are heading to Southern
California to fight wildfires.
Two planes are from the 302nd Airlift Wing, a reserve unit at
Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs.
The other two are from the 153rd Airlift Wing, a Wyoming Air
National Guard unit in Cheyenne.
They're are expected to leave Tuesday. All the planes are
equipped with modular airborne firefighting equipment, which
converts the planes to aerial tankers.
Last year, the 302nd flew 18 sorties against wildfires in Idaho,
Nevada and Oregon.
