Cheyenne, Wy – The governor announced Tuesday that he's prepared to fight the federal government in court over the state's wolf management plan. So far he has the support of the ag community and key legislators
In a meeting with leaders from several agriculture groups Governor Dave Freudenthal said he does not want the state to change its wolf management plan. He would rather litigate the issue.
This comes after the U-S Fish and Wildlife Service told the state it would have to compromise on several details if Wyoming is ever to get control over wolves. Freudenthal says he doesn't feel like he can trust the federal government to stick to its word. He says the feds continue to raise the bar on Wyoming.
The chairmen of the legislature's wildlife committee agree with Freudenthal's idea to stand up and fight for the state's management plan.
