Wyoming will compete for additional stimulus dollars

Laramie, WY – Wyoming is slated to receive roughly $500 million through the federal stimulus package. However, the state can also compete for additional funds. The University of Wyoming's Deputy Director of Government Relations, Don Richards, says the university is already preparing to apply for research money. He says the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy and the National Institutes of Health all have funds available. "We believe the University of Wyoming is well-positioned to compete for this funding within our institutional priorities," Richards said.

Many other state agencies also plan to apply for grants. The Department of Health is looking at one that could allow it to create an electronic database of health records.
