Wyoming Works to Calculate Impact of Stimulus
By Renny MacKay
Laramie, WY – The White House has put out projections today saying the stimulus package will create 8000 jobs in Wyoming. That comes after an earlier estimate that Wyoming will receive 400 million dollars from the stimulus package.
Governor Freudenthal's point person on overseeing the stimulus is Lynne Boomgaarden. She says she has no reason to doubt the numbers, but she is not sure how they're making the estimates.
"They certainly aren't going into the level of detail that we need to go into, understanding the distribution mechanism for those dollars and the other conditions. It's the goal of the Wyoming reinvestment and recovery team to try to pin those down with as great of certainty as possible," Boomgaarden says.
She adds her goal is to have a clear sense of the numbers by the end of the week. She is working with a team of representatives from state agencies that are impacted by the stimulus package.
