WyoTech Student Sentenced on Terrorism-related Charges
El Paso, TX – A former student at Laramie's Wyoming Technical Institute will spend two years in jail for planning to support a terrorist group. 19-year-old Mark Walker, of Rochester, New York, admitted to federal officials that he planned to buy night vision goggles and bulletproof vests for terrorist groups seeking an Islamic government in Somalia. Walker was arrested at the Mexican border in El Paso, Texas. He fled Laramie after law enforcement was tipped off by Walker's roommate. Walker was apparently using his roommate's computer to communicate with the terrorist groups on the Internet.
