Laramie, WY – The number of visitors to Yellowstone National Park in August continued to be well above last year's figures.
Park officials reported an 11.8 percent jump in the number of recreational visitors to Yellowstone in August compared with last year.
In all, 710,781 people came to the park last month.
The North Entrance near Gardiner, Mont., saw a 34 percent increase, and the Northeast Entrance near Cooke City, Mont., saw a 19 percent increase over last year.
The increase follows a summer-long increase in the number of visitors. In July, there was an 11.4 increase over July 2006. In June, the year-over-year increase was about 9.4 percent.
