Promoting Arts in Lander Schools (PALS) was recently named a recipient of a 2011 Governor’s Arts Award. Established in 1982, the Governor’s Arts Awards recognize artists, arts organizations and patrons who have displayed excellence in the arts and outstanding service to the arts in Wyoming.

PALS (Promoting Arts in Lander Schools) is a grassroots organization that brings the arts—including theater, music, literature, visual art, dance, and opera—to Lander students.

The Lander Art Center is a nonprofit art organization located in beautiful Lander, Wyoming. It’s a membership-based organization relying on the involvement and financial support of the community.

The Center’s mission is to engage the community's young people and adults in visual arts through quality exhibitions and learning opportunities that will support a strong arts community in Fremont County.

The gallery-space features varied art exhibitions of local, regional and national artists rotating on a six-week basis totaling eight exhibitions per year.

The Outdoor Industry Association announced its 2012 Outdoor Inspiration Awards Thursday, and the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) was named the winner of the group category.

Of 250 nominees, NOLS was determined by a panel of outdoor business and community leaders to be the group most inspirational in encouraging people to appreciate, support, and recreate in the outdoors. The group category was comprised of “two or more who have come together to get great things done, and get even better things started.”
