The program has a rich tradition providing listeners a contemporary mix with a variety of styles including singer/songwriters, folk, acoustic, rock, R&B, blues, world, and reggae. New music is a big part of the mix as well as artists from Wyoming and the Rocky Mountain region. You'll also hear live music and interview sessions.

Paul Montoya is the co-host for Morning Music. Grady Kirkpatrick continues as host Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Paul covers Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as occasional fill-ins during the week.

On a snowy and cold Thursday morning, the British a cappella vocal ensemble the King's Singer's warmed up the Morning Music studio. The King's Singers are on tour of festive performances across the United States. One of their stops includes a performance in Laramie at the University of Wyoming's Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall

Salt Lake City-based singer-songwriter Kate MacLeod has a new album coming out at the end of the year. At Ken Sanders Rare Books is a live collection of songs written over the past 30 years, all based on books. Wyoming Public Radio’s Micah Schweizer spoke with Kate MacLeod about the new record and her Wyoming-inspired songs.

Born and raised in Sandpoint Idaho, identical twins Katelyn and Laurie Shook make up the Indie Folk-Pop band Shook Twins. They now reside in Portland, Oregon. Kyle Volkman and Niko Daoussis form the core quartet.

Hillery Lynn, Birgit Burke, and Pryce Taylor make up the local Laramie band Whiskey Slaps. Hillery has been playing guitar, singing and writing songs most of her life. Birgit has been writing songs, singing, and playing various musical instruments most of her life as well. Their songwriting, guitar playing and mandolin playing lift elements from 1920’s blues, old-time, Appalachian folk and country western. Pryce Taylor joins on electric and upright bass, grounding the songs with solid rhythm.

Gooding is soul-stirring, animated Rock ‘n’ Roll from the plains. Guitarist/Singer and namesake “Gooding” and his band of brothers, Jesse Rich and Billy Driver, have been touring nonstop for 8 years. Their live shows are infused with the confident energy and heart-on-your-sleeve emotion that only comes from 3 childhood friends living out their dream on the road.

Lynn Miles is one of Canada’s most accomplished singer/songwriters. With seven albums to her credit, the winner of multiple Canadian Folk Music Awards, and a 2003 Juno Award for Roots & Traditional Solo Album of the Year, she has certainly found her strength over time.

Hailing from the mountains and plains of Northern Wyoming, Luke Bell’s music is shaped by his lineage of ranchers, tobacco farmers and ministers. This young singer-songwriter naturally brings us a blend of the old time blues/country sound and contemporary lyricism about poverty, loss, hardship, and redemption.

Here’s a new song that was released in September at a Crimestoppers fundraiser in New Orleans. Another Murder in New Orleans is the first song New Orleans music legends Dr. John and Bobby Rush have recorded together. The songwriter is Laramie native Carl Gustafson, and as he explains, the song came out of a meeting with producer Donald Markowitz, who had Gustafson leaf through the New Orleans newspaper, the Times-Picayune…

The Wyomericana Caravan pulled into Wyoming Public Radio on May 14, 2013 ahead of their kickoff show in Laramie.  J Shogren, Jalan Crossland and Screen Door Porch each played their Wyoming brand of Americana music.  They also talked with Grady Kirkpatrick about the tour.

Pinedale singer-songwriter Jared Rogerson has been influenced as a musician from 17 years of bronc’ riding in rodeos. He’s also explored thousands of miles in the remote Wyoming backcountry as a brucellosis biologist for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. His new album, Dirt, was released April 17.

Wyoming native, Jeff Troxel, is a  guitarist, composer, and songwriter from Cody.  Jeff Troxel has released three albums, his newest Spirit of Our Time, was released in 2011. Troxel became the National Flatpicking Champion at the Walnut Valley Festival after winning state championships in both Wyoming and Utah.

Roots-rock band Patti Fiasco is based in Ft. Collins but members are from towns across Wyoming. Fronted by Alysia Kraft from Encampment, they combine classic country, soul, and rock 'n' roll. Jackson Hole based Chanman Roots Band, fronted by Peter “Chanman” Chandler, are driven by strong rhythms, horns and a positive vibe. The nine members from the Chanman Roots Band come from across the country and  combine reggae, rock, jazz, and more to their music. The band recorded and released its first CD New Uprising in 2011.
