Theodore Waddell

Western artist Theodore Waddell and his wife, Lynn, are gifting an 80 piece print collection to the Whitney Center for the Arts at Sheridan College. The collection includes works from celebrated artists from around the country, all gathered by Waddell himself.  “I’ve traded and bought works, prints and whatnot, forever. Just from people whose work I’ve admired and cared for over a lifetime”, he says.

The artwork of 31 of the Middle East's premier contemporary women artists is coming to Jackson. “I AM” is an international traveling exhibit focusing on the contributions that Middle Eastern women make to local and global culture, and movements for peace and harmony.

It’s already made stops in Jordan, London and Washington DC, and will open at the Center for the Arts in Jackson on Friday evening.

Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum

Comic books get kids reading and thinking about complex issues. That's definitely the case for an art show now up at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum. All the comic book art in this show is by Native American artists.

The museum's marketing director Morgan Marks gave Wyoming Public Radio's Melodie Edwards a tour that started with the illustrated robe of the great Eastern Shoshone Chief Washakie, showing just how deeply ingrained picture storytelling is in Native American cultures.

Artists are invading downtown Laramie this weekend. Local artists of all kinds will “pop up” in local businesses and on the streets for the Laramie Pop-Up Artwalk.

It’s a creation of the Wyoming Art Party, the Wyoming Arts Council, and the Downtown Laramie Business Alliance. 26 artists, including street performers and buskers, are scheduled. Local artist Adrienne Vetter has extended an invitation for any artist who would like to join at the event.

Art Association of Jackson Hole

Nine up-and-coming Jackson artists will be featured in the fourth annual Jackson Rising exhibition opening this weekend. Local artists recommended their peers for the Jackson Rising display. Art Association Gallery director Thomas Macker says this process of finding new contributors keeps the exhibition fresh year after year.

Ron McIntosh

The Wyoming Technology Business Center at the University of Wyoming has recently started a program to assist artists in the region to develop business skills so they can become more self- sufficient. Wyoming Public Radio’s Pat Gabriel talked with the center's CEO Jon Benson and its Marketing Coordinator Fred Schmechel about why they think the program could be so helpful for Wyoming artists. They're also joined by the program's very first artist, Ron McIntosh.

Every fall, the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson holds an annual fund-raising show that gives art collectors a chance to rub shoulders with high-caliber wildlife artists.

Partygoers, dressed in everything from cocktail gowns to cowboy  hats, are sipping drinks while admiring paintings and sculptures created by one hundred premiere wildlife artists. Bettina Whyte, a museum trustee, is among those admiring the art.

Wyoming Art Party

The Wyoming Art Party is a new arts organization. No, we won’t be seeing Art Party candidates on the November ballot; think party, as in fun and festivities. The Wyoming Art Party’s inaugural event opens with a reception Friday, August 22 at a temporary gallery in Laramie. It’s a collaborative exhibit called ‘A Portrait of Wyoming.’ Laramie artists June Glasson and Meg Thompson are the founders of the Wyoming Art Party. They stopped by to explain the project to Wyoming Public Radio’s Micah Schweizer.

A group of artists marking 1821 border between the United States and Mexico traveled through Wyoming over the weekend.

Marcos Ramirez and David Taylor are the artists behind the project, called ‘Delimitations.’ It aims to trace the original, 2,300-mile border between the U.S. and Mexico.

That historic border runs through Medicine Bow National Forest here in Wyoming.
