city council

People in Pinedale have a lot to say about their mayor, Bob Jones—and not much of it is nice.

Longtime councilman Tim Lingle says his day-to-day has become much more hostile since the new mayor took over.

“Do I hate him? I think that’s a bit strong,” Lingle says. “Do I wish we kept our old Mayor? Absolutely.”

Mayor Jones has also made enemies with some of the small town’s business leaders—like Tamra Watts, who runs Pinedale’s popular Wind River Brewery and restaurant.

Next month the Casper City Council will vote to remove or change the city’s smoking ban.  At the very least, councilors are considering exempting bars, health care facilities, and private clubs from the ban.

The smoking ban was implanted last summer.

Anna Edwards of the group Smokefree Natrona County says her group will fight to keep the ban in place.  She says they are trying to protect the health of a lot of people, including employees.

Voters in Laramie have backed changing the way city councilors there are elected.

Currently, voters pick city councilors to represent seven wards and two at-large members. On Tuesday, voters were asked whether to stick with that system or change the number of wards or change the number of at-large members.

The city clerk's office said Wednesday that unofficial results show that the option to create three wards with three council members each got the most votes.

The results won't be official until election officials review the results on Thursday.
