Conference On Homeless Youth Issues To Be Held In Lander

Unaccompanied Student Initiative

The Unaccompanied Student Initiative will host a conference in Lander this month to bring awareness to the difficulties issues facing homeless youth face in Wyoming. 

The conference aims to confront these issues and to help youth and community members to develop tools and techniques to better address them the issues surrounding homeless youth in the state. Stacey Strasser, one of the conference organizers, said that it the conference is not only designed for youth, but for the communities surrounding them.

“Were hoping to bring as many community members as possible. It affects businesses, it affects non-profits, it affects those working with homeless youth, schools. We’re hoping to reach out to a variety of the population to attend,” Strasser said.

There are almost 2,000 homeless youth in Wyoming. The conference will be held all day April 26 at the Lander Community and Convention Center. Registration must be completed beforehand

Originally hailing from Rochester, NY, Sam was drawn to Laramie to pursue a degree in history as well as to participate on the University of Wyoming wrestling team.
