Gov. Mead releases WY energy policy

Governor Matt Mead and his policy director, Shawn Reese, released an energy policy for Wyoming at a press conference today. The policy contains 47 initiatives broken down into categories including economic competitiveness and expansion, regulation, conservation, and education. Reese said there were a number of hallmark initiatives.

“Such as development of international trade for Wyoming businesses and industries, the development of baseline water standards, development of an approach for hybrid energy solutions, in which we effectively pair coal and uranium and wind in innovative ways to accomplish advanced conversion technologies,” said Reese.

Few of the initiatives address renewable energy, but Governor Mead said he wants it to be a living document that can change if Wyoming is able to take advantage of increased demand for renewables in the future. Many of the initiative address good government.
