Wyoming Medical Center

This February, the email accounts of two Wyoming Medical Center employees were compromised in a phishing scam. A phishing scam is an email that looks like it came from a credible source, and tricks the recipient into providing passwords and usernames in an attempt to access sensitive information. The scam won't work if the recipient ignores the email, and doesn't open any links.

When the two Wyoming Medical Center employees opened the email in a phishing scam, they potentially compromised the information of nearly 3,200 patients.

The maternity ward at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper is seeing a baby boom.

The Casper Star-Tribune reported this week that 123 babies were born in July -- the most in a single month in the last 27 years. Nurses said the influx of energy jobs has been drawing young families to the area.

The Wyoming Medical Center says it will appeal a ruling that would remove its Medicare “sole community provider” status.  The decision would cost the hospital approximately 8-million dollars in yearly reimbursements from the federal government.

“Sole community provider” status aims to provide hospitals in rural areas money to offset expenses so they can provide full services to smaller populations.
