Wyoming Public Media Photo Contest Winners
Wyoming Through Listeners’ Eyes!
Congratulations to this year’s Wyoming Public Media Photo Contest winners!
We were lucky to receive over a hundred photo entries from all over Wyoming, making it extremely difficult to not choose all the photos. The winners were chosen by listeners who voted for their favorite in each category, Wyoming’s Nature, Wyoming's People, and Only in Wyoming. We have posted these winners below, along with a short biography of each photographer.
For the many other beautiful photos, you are welcome to visit Wyoming Public Media’s Photo Contest . Many of these photos will be used for other purposes in the station.
Credit Faith Whitehouse-To Be Free
Faith Whitehouse has lived in Laramie now for about 2 1/2 years and can't imagine living anywhere else. Out of frustration of not being able to capture the beauty of the mountains and wildlife around her, Faith bought her first camera. Just this summer she fulfilled her dream of opening a photography studio in downtown Laramie, Honey Bee Photography ( http://honeybeeshutter.com/ ). She loves to drink coffee, snowshoe, mountain bike, run, hike, and spend time enjoying life with her finance, Kevin.
Credit Patricia Lavin-Yellowstone Fog (Tie)
Patricia grew up in southern Wyoming playing outside and loves nature. She has been enjoying photography for about 20 years and is amazed at what she sees and learns from behind the lens. Patricia sells her work at www.artforconservation.org/artists/patricialavin and donates a percentage of all profits to the Nature Conservancy.
Credit John Hebberger-Teton Reflections
John very much enjoys and is quite passionate and serious about nature photography, especially in his wonderful part of NW Wyoming. He focuses on photography of wildlife and scenery. As a geologist he is able to enjoy wandering and viewing the area with the eyes of both a photographer and a geologist interested in the origins of what he sees.
Credit Michael Peck-A place in Time
Michael Peck was born, raised, and on and off an inhabitant of Buffalo, WY. Currently, he lives in Worland, WY with his wife and 2 year old son. He works as a Rangeland Management Specialist for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) which allows him to see and experience many remote and remarkable places.
Credit Holly Dutton-Stand Alone
Holly Dutton is a Wyoming native, only having moved away for college for a short time. She has a bachelor's degree in Biology and is currently working on her Master's degree. Holly loves photography, enjoys being outdoors as much as possible, spending time with her husband and making cards.
Credit Aaron Kraft-Branding Day/Frosty Morning
Aaron Kraft is a freelance photographer based out of his native Teton County. Wyoming scenes act as the major theme in most of Aaron's work, but he jumps at the chance to cram himself into overly packed chicken buses, rickshaws, beemos, and jeepneys around the world to help keep a fresh perspective on the beautiful place he calls home.
